        Feline Arthritis

Arthritis can affect cats of any age but usually it is the older cat that gets this debilitating disease. There is no cure for arthritis, nor is there a way to prevent it but there are medications that can relieve pain. Some of the natural supplements recommended by veterinarians are chondroitin and glucosamine sulfate.

It is my personal opinion--and not that of any expert in veterinary care--that declawing your cat can eventually lead to arthritis. Arthritis can attack any joint that has been traumatized and declawing traumatizes at least ten joints of cats unfortunate enough to be victims of the cruelest thing you can do to a cat.

If you notice lameness, limited movement, posture change, stiffness, decrease in activity, or if your cat seems to be in pain, please have your veterinarian check kitty out as soon as possible.
